Higgins' Land New Testament Church of God
The Higgin's-land New Testament Church was founded in 1939 with a small group of devoted believers seeking a place to worship and serve their community. Over the decades, the church steadily grew, guided by numerous dedicated pastors such as Pastor CT Johnson, Pastor Archer, Pastor Higgins, Pastor Withitter, Pastor Palmer, Pastor Ascott, Pastor Cunningham, Pastor Campbell, Pastor Grey, Pastor Noble, and Pastor Neil nurtured the congregation’s faith and expanded its outreach efforts over the decades. From humble beginnings, the church has flourished to over 100+ members, becoming a vital spiritual and community hub.
In 2019, Bishop Donald Dawson assumed leadership, bringing renewed vision and energy to the congregation. Under his guidance, the church has continued to thrive, emphasizing spiritual growth, community service, and fellowship. Today, Higgin's-land New Testament Church remains a beacon of faith, unity, and hope for its members and the broader community.
Our Pastor . Donald Dawson
Bishop Donald Dawson hails from the parish of St. Ann. He gave his life to the Lord at the age of 15 and became a member of the Lawrence Park New Testament Church of God.
He is a graduate of the then Brown’s Town Secondary School. He later earned a certificate in Biblical Studies from the Lords and Fairweather Theological College in Duncans, Trelawny, and is also a graduate of Bethel Bible College in Mandeville.
Bishop Dawson began his pastoral ministry in 1999 and has since pastored several churches, including the Maryland and Medley and the Greenland Churches. He served as District Overseer for the Cascade District of Churches, where he pastored the Cascade and Retrieve churches. He also served as District Overseer for the Sanguinette District of Churches before becoming the pastor of the Higgins Land New Testament Church of God.
Rev. Dawson is married to Evette Dawson, and their union has been blessed with one child, Grace Ann Dawson.
